Microscopes

A microscope is absolutely the best modality for consistent accurate visualization for dental procedures.

Magnification: Microscopes provide multiple telescopic magnifications from 3x to 20x.  The higher magnification provided by microscopes allow for a wider field of view and a deeper depth of field than loupes.

Illumination: Anything under high magnification appears darker and additional light is required to compensate for this phenomenon.  Microscopes have an integrated bright fiber-optic light source through the lens.

Ergonomics: With a scope, it is no longer necessary to contort and bend your body to obtain good visualization.  Bringing the patient to you through subtle head movements allows for a more comfortable operating posture.

Imaging: Integrating a video camera will fulfill the same function as an intraoral camera but with “real time” imaging. While working with a scope you don’t have to stop in the middle of the procedure to capture video or still images.
