Using digital sensor technology allows for immediate observation of radiographic images, a significant clinical advantage in accomplishing many oral procedures.  The image can be sent electronically as soon as it is captured so you can consult with an outside specialist while the patient is still in the chair.  This also allows the image to be manipulated to optimize brightness and contrast, stored for easy access and duplicated for insurance or even the patient.
